Well I've gone and done my usual trick: kept a diary for the first week or so and then stopped. Dear me... What am I going to do? Anyway, the low-down:
Last you heard, we had just missed out on videoing because the battery died, well, we went back 'home' to the caravan and charged the battery and went back to the same beach the next day and managed to video "Create In Me A Clean Heart" and "Open My Eyes" very nicely. We also got to talk to a man and share with him what we are doing. In my mind, God ordained that we should be there that day to share with him. Who knows what will come out of our short chat or the wafts of music a couple of other people got to hear.
Also that day (the 30th), we recorded "Hear My Cry" - a solo for Ely. We were going to try to video it at the beach, at Geograph Bay but we didn't get time so it will have to wait for Shalem.
The 31st was Tuesday and we came home that day. When I say home I mean to Shalem which is pretty much home to me because I grew up here, in the very house I'm staying in in fact.
Shalem was a health retreat just out of Manjimup, WA, about 4 hours south of Perth. Here I grew up, my Dad as director and Mum was heavily involved too. Also living on the property were my grandparents on my Dad's side and w few other staff. Just over 8 years ago, we shifted over to NSW so my Dad could run a Missionary Training School (Eastward Missionary College). In 2010, a family came to Eastward and the Father and oldest daughter, Ely, did the 10 month course. Ely and I became best friends and thats why I'm over here but the point is that this lovely family has lived in our old house for years, they moved here just after we shifted.
So this morning we packed up camp and drove home. We got home just about lunch time and then went for a walk in the afternoon. It was great to go over the old place again. Search out all my old nooks and crannies and review happy, childhood memorise (my that makes me sound old!). It was strange to go down to Grandma and Grandpa's house and find it empty but it will be cool to have them living a bit closer.
On the 1st, school started for these poor WA people and so I spent allot of the morning playing dolls and teddies and trying to edit video. Some of it is really hard to lip sync. In the afternoon, we videoed Ely's first solo, "Hear My Cry". It was awesome! She looked amazing sitting in the field of golden grass!
I tried to edit it tonight but we were so tired that we started to get cranky with each other so i decided to start again tomorrow morning.
Yesterday was the 2nd and once again I played dolls and teddies but I broke it up with some piano playing and cleaning bathrooms and such. The biggest thing that happened was that we practiced and recorded the piano accompaniment for "There Is A Fountain". It's awesome! I just have to get my part right!
