Asleep

Bambina asleep in her father’s hands,
Her face so peaceful, her mind at rest.
No thought of strife or shifting sands,
Disturb her sleep on Daddy’s chest.
And hand reaches out for mine,
Trustingly her weight on me is laid.
Her smile rises up, my heart it’s arrows find.
And by a ray of light a thought is laid.

Become as little children.”
I hear the Master’s call.
Make sure your life is given,
Trust Him with your all.
Asleep in Jesus hands,
Oh what relief and peace.
No thought of strife or shifting sands,
My restlessness his arms release.

What have I to fear?
What have I to dread?
Why should I shed a tear?
Why should trouble cloud my head?

When I’m asleep in Jesus’ arms,
My head upon His breast.
Lying here I’ll know no harm.
My head upon His breast.
