Day seven. A week of days. A week of days and look where we are. It makes me wonder, is it always this easy. No, I know it's not. I know it can take much longer but I guess God blessed me with an easy girl. So far anyway.
Brumbies all came in when they were called today. Easy peasy! We've got them to this stage by always giving them hay or something nice when they come in and when they get called so that they know that it's a good place to be. Now they come when they are called and know that they are going to get hay. And they do!
Katie and I had a good day. So did the other horses although I still think yesterday was the best!
I used the small yard to catch Katie simply because she went in there and it does save time. Then we went out to "Katie's Yard" (The same one we were in yesterday) and worked more on leading and brushing. I also stroked her face and played with her ears, starting to get her ready to accept a bit. I also leant gently on her back twice to get her ready for a saddle. The first time she pulled away. She wasn't worried but she also wasn't sure what was going on. The second time she stood still for a little bit before pulling away.
Josh and Thunderbolt, Tom and Barra, Ella and Karen and Katie and I all spent some time just standing next to each other along a fence, watching Jennie do some work with Star and Dulux. It was pretty cool to be standing there with lead-rope just flopped over my arm and Katie falling asleep at my elbow. I feel like I own a real horse now!
