Hear...receive my sayings and the years of thy life shall be many...I have led thee in right paths...when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble...take fast hold of instruction...for she is thy life. Enter not into the path of the wicked...avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away...the path of the just is as a shining light which Shinto more and more unto the perfect day. (Verses taken from Proverbs 4:10-19)
Once again, these verses can be devided into two groups. The first four speak of regarding our parent’s instruction for our whole life and keeping wisdom and instruction. “She is thy life!”
The last six verses contrast the path of the wicked and the path of the just. One is as a shining light, the other we are told in no uncertain language to avoid at all costs. Notice though that there are only two paths; right and wrong, just and wicked. We can’t be halfway! There is no halfway! That’s why the way of evil is called the broad road. It encompasses any area that is not the ‘narrow way’. Once you venture off the shining way, you are automatically on the broad way. Which way are you on?
