Yesterday's Adventure!

We went straight back home after SS and got changed and packed lunch and fluffed around, then all of us except for Hannah and Mum went to find the other guys. We drove in as far as Pie Mountain Creek or whatever it is where the bridge is out and left the car there and walked the rest of the way. Uncle Kim said it was about 2.5km and it took us 40min to get in to the camping sight. We had to find the right little road leading down to the river so when we came to one that we thought was the right one we cooed and sure enough there were faint cooees back.
It was a sweet little camping spot, very small but big enough. One one side is the Wilson with a great big deep swimming hole and rocks rapids, you name, it's there. On the other side is a little creek. It's pretty cute.
When we got there everyone had just finished lunch and were setting up their tents so we had lunch while they did that and then we all went into the bush to find a waterfall. We followed the little creek up and up and I had decided that if we didn't find the waterfall soon, I was going to go back. Just then Dad yelled, "Waterfall!"
So there was. It was only a pretty little thing. It was in a little cavern, surrounded on three sides by slippery cliffs. I was pretty tired already so I was just sitting at the bottom with Libby, Jane and Abby saying that we will forever wonder what was above this waterfall when Josh, who had gone ahead with nearly everyone else, called down from the top. "There's a big waterfall up here."
So I had to go. Everyone else had back-tracked and gone up the left side of the creek, right up onto the ridge and around that way but I thought that would take too long. Libby and the girls went back that way but I decided to go up the righthand side: a cliff. I started up but soon realised it was a stupid thing to do. It was really slippery and there wern't as many footholds and stuff as I imagined. But once I was up there, I couldn't come down.
As I started up I heard Uncle Kim and Daniel calling to me from the other side. "Where are your shoes?"
"Down the bottom." I yelled back. I couldn't have climbed that in my Baxters! I continued up finding a bit of stability in fallen rotten logs and swinging vines. I know my angel was working overtime while I was on that cliff.
I got to one place where I had straddled a rotten log, supporting myself holding onto the top of it and a vine. I was looking around for my next toehold, searching through all the 100 year old moss and mud. My foot was just slipping no matter where I put it and that's when I really started to get frightened. So I prayed. I realised that if that angel hadn't been there I would have been dead by then. I mean, whoever heard of relying on rotten logs leaning down the edge of a cliff! Yep, I prayed! Then I put my foot up to the driest, safest looking place and pulled myself up. I remeber thinking 'wow, that wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.' But I know that that's because I had prayed.
Anyway, that was the end of the really hard bit. The rest I just had to be careful of. As I got up the top and started to go around, along the cliff to where I could get back down to the creek - above the waterfall, I heard Uncle Kim and Daniel calling again. "Are you ok?" They said.
I think my voice was a bit shaky because my heart was beating pretty fast still but I managed to call back. "I'm alright." I almost added 'I think'! But I didn't. I was ok. God had saved me that time! I was just hoping that Daniel and Uncle Kim hadn't been watching me all that time. That would have been REALLY embarrassing!
When I got up to the big waterfall (and it was much bigger) everyone, especially Libby, were saying I was so amazing, bla bla bla.... I was just thinking that I was pretty stupid actually!
So we got to the big waterfall and I felt content. I didn't need to go any further. We sat for a while and Uncle Kim took photos and stuff then we started back. I was very careful to follow Uncle Kim back!
Some people had gone further up and found two more big waterfalls but it was rock climbing kind of stuff.
Anyway, that's the main adventure from yesterday. Everyone made it back to camp at about the same time and we were all safe. We walked out and came home.
