...the twelfth day...

(25-05-13)
Well I must say that it is definitely real now. Although it just feels like we’ve been doing it forever. It feels like life.
So today was our first experience at actually running the show. We all got dressed up in our uniforms and went for it! Dave preached the sermon and then in the afternoon Janelle shared her testimony interlaced with beautiful songs. It was a very touching hour and a half and many people were blessed. Quite a few said that they felt that the message was just for them and Dave was even able to plan a bible study tomorrow with a seeker.
It’s so humbling to see how God chooses to take what we have to offer, with all it’s defects and use it for His glory. Yesterday, Dave shared with us how he has started to think of himself as the postman. God has given us a package and it is our job to deliver it. When you think of it this way you can almost be comforted, especially seeing as God can tailor-make that package to suit each hearer. But then the realization hits that Christ Himself is that Package. Now I’m feeling pretty inadequate! Thankfully, God’s strength is truly made perfect in weakness and His grace! Praise God!
“...My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
I have taken a new motto. I don’t know where it has come from, except that it is spoken at the end of the song “Holy Spirit” by Kristyn Getty, but the more I think of it and am involved in working for God, the more these words seem to fit my life and become part of me.

Christ with me and Christ before me.
Christ behind me and Christ in me
Christ beneath me and Christ above me
Christ to my right and Christ to my left
Christ when I lie down and Christ when I arise.
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me
Christ in the mind of everyone who speaks of me
Christ in every eye that sees me
And Christ in every ear that hears me.
I arise today through Your mighty strength
And nothing can defeat me, as long as I rely on You.

As I am beginning to expect of most churches or towns, Emerald had it’s surprises. First, Janelle discovered that she had visited the church when she was with EP in 1995. On Friday when we arrived to set up, she recognized the place straight off.
And then there was Kerrie and Kevin, tourists that turned up for church. They are the Busselton church campground caretakers from WA. And they know the Sawyers ect… They came back to my billet for tea because Peter used to work for Kevin. It was a very pleasant evening with lots of stories and reminiscences. I love listening to other people talk. Especially about old times. Listening is so much easier then making conversation!
“And the evening and the morning were the twelfth day…”
