"Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice? She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths. She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors. Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man. O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things. For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge." (Proverbs 8:1-9)
First, wisdom is for everyone. See how she stands at the gates and in high places? These are places where she will be noticed. People pass through the entries to towns and cities all day long. Locals, tourists, rurals. They all have some kind of agenda they are seeking to fulfill but perhaps they will catch wisdom's words as she cries aloud and seek after her. A high place stands out, towering above its surroundings. It is a beacon, a landmark; visible from far and wide, a guide for travel lots.
Wisdom calls to the simple and the intellectual, to the busy and the lazy, men and women, young and old, the settled and the wanderers, those at home and those aboard. Wisdom "cries aloud" in an effort to give everyone the chance to hear and get wisdom.
Wisdom is truthful; it does not lie. This teaches me two important points. 1.) True wisdom can be trusted to tell the truth and one way to tell true wisdom is that wisdom is truthful. 2.) To be wise, I must be truthful. If lies are an abomination to the lips of wisdom, it goes without saying that the words of those striving for wisdom will be righteous.
