We went canvassing on Tuesday. The fist house we went to was an old lady's place and she wasn't interested at all. The next house we went to was an old man's place. He was working outside on his boat. He didn't hear us coming and was very grumpy and told us to get off his property.
We went to two more houses then we knocked on this door. An old man opened it. We canvassed him and he told us that he used to be in the Navy in the submarines. Dave asked him if he had any pictures and he invited us in to have a look but when we got in he remembered that the photos weren't there. They were across the road at a different person's place but he did have a few so we looked at the photo then Dave said that we had a really good book about a war that we thought he would like.
He did but he said that he already had enough books to read so we left that house. About half an hour later I was swapped and instead of door knocking with Dave, I went with Rachel. We went to two doors and they were both rejections then we came to an open door and there was an old man reading a newspaper. We knocked on his door and then canvassed him. He said that he had $10 and would get a Great Controversy! (Praise God!)
The next house that we went to there was an old lady and she was yelling at us. As we walked down the steps, Rachel was still smiling and I asked her if she was still excited from the last house and of course she said, yes.
The next person that I was paired up with was Kirsty. We almost sold two cook books to the same lady, but she had no money. A little farther on there was a lady that her son had just died and she was really upset and didn't want to talk to us and she pretty much shut the door on us. A while later Andy, our canvassing coordinator who was driving around checking up on all the teams, came back and Kirsty asked him to go back and talk to the lady. I didn't get to hear what happened but that was the end of canvassing because it was time to go home.
Over all it was a great experience and I hope to go again soon.
