Guest Post: My First Canvassing Experience

On Tuesday, we went canvassing. At first I was with Dave, a volunteer at Eastward Missionary College. One of the doors we knocked on, an older man came to answer the door. He said that he was eighty-eight and that he had just been at the doctor's. Well, Dave talked to him for a while and the man had told him that he had been in the Navy working in the submarines. So Dave asked if he had any pictures to show us. He said he did and invited us in and went to get the pictures but came back and told us that they were across the road at a person's place that Dave had met the last time he was out. We went over and looked at some of his other pictures. Then we went on our way.
Then I got put with Jasmine R, a friend from the area, and Eva, a volunteer. One of the houses a little girl was on the drive way. We said hello to her and went up to the door. Her grandpa opened the door and we showed him the Great Controversy and he bought it!
We kept going and we met a lady who was interested in Happiness and we told her that we were SDAs and she said that her grandpa was also one and that he was an aboriginal pastor. She asked if we went to church at Port Macquarie and we told her that we went to Wauchope. She said she had gone to our old church and Jasmine told her where we are worshiping and invited her to church and the health expo that we are running this Sunday.
Then Andy and another volunteer took us home.

I really enjoyed my first experience canvassing and I hope I can go again soon.
