22 The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
27 The fear of the Lord prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
What a precious promise has been thrown into this chapter! "The blessing of the LORD, it taketh rich, and He addeth no sorrow with it.." (Vs 22) I just can't get enough of this verse. Worley success, blessing and riches bring sorrow: "moth and rust doth corrupt," and "thieves break through and steal." (Mat 6:19) Possessions and wealth breed selfishness and misery is created in striving for more, more more.
The blessings of the LORD and His riches are peaceful. They are ever giving to others and ever receiving from above in a perfect, unbreakable circle of love. A life of service to God is fulfilling. "Those who in everything make God first, and last, and best, are the happiest people in the world." (MYP 38)
True wealth is not measured by houses and lands or visible in your bank account. True wealth is love, satisfaction, joy, stars in your crown, peace, salvation and a deep sleep at night. "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of lights..." (James 1:17) "...lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven; where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt; and where thieves do not break through or steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (Mat 6:20,21)
