To Like A Like

The other day, while riding silently in the backseat of a car, I was contemplating on the different uses of the word 'like'. It is quite an obscure and somewhat unimportant word, but it is used in so many different contexts.
To begin with, let's look at what the dictionary has to say. As a preposition: having the same characteristics or qualities as; similar to, used to draw attention to the nature of an action or event, such as
As a conjunction: in the same way that, as though; as if
As a noun: used with reference to a person or thing of the same kind as another
As an adjective: (of a person or thing) having similar qualities or characteristics to another person or thing, Brit.(of a portrait or other image) having a faithful resemblance to the original
As an adverb: informal used in speech as a meaningless filler or to signify the speaker's uncertainty about an expression just used, informal used to convey a person's reported attitude or feelings in the form of direct speech (whether or not representing an actual quotation)
So that's the dictionaries' point of veiw. Now, just for fun, I'm gonna see how many different ways I can come up with that we use the word 'like'.

  • "I like the colour blue."
  • "And he was like, 'give it over."
  • "Fred likes Joanne."
  • "I liked it on Facebook."
  • It sounded like a gunshot.
We use the word like to show like how something like was said, or like what something was like. Some people don't like us using the word like so much, they like think that it gets like repetitious or something like that. But they should like try being like a teen in 2013. It's like everywhere. Everyone says like!
Anyway, I had a bit of fun. Don't worry, even though i do use the word like too much, I'm a bit over it anyway! So, no, I don't recommend everyone start saying like and I don't mind being reminded to not go to town with it. And I don't think it's impossible to stop!
I liked writing this!
