...the 5th day...

(18-05-13)
Today is a special day for the twins, Hannah and Rachel, for two reasons: one, it was their 18th birthday, and two, they were baptised. The Hinkler church was packed! One of the locals mentioned that it was one of their biggest days of the church. Another lady made a funny comment while we were waiting in line for the toilet. She turned to me and said, "I didn't know the girls had so many friends!" And I felt honoured to be numbered among their friends.
And so they were baptised in the afternoon. When the Pastor asked Hannah to say a few words, she, amid her tears, stepped up to the mike and thanked everyone for coming. "...And I'm so happy!" She said through her sobs. Of course everyone laughed because of the oxymoronic nature of her statement.
After the beautiful service, we stood around for a long time, congratulating and chatting. Then we went back home where the people soon began to dribble in. Soon there was a crowd gathered and so we sung to close Sabbath and then ate and slwly migrated out to the bonfire. That bonfire was the scene for many laughs and much happiness.
10pm rolled around all too quickly and we went laughing to bed.
"And the evening and the morning were the fifth day..."
