Sunshine and Shadows

This morning at my house, it's warm and muggy and clouds cover the sun and the blue of the sky. You know what it's like, sometimes it's not as easy to smile and be happy when it's cloudy and rainy.

It's like that in our Christian life. We've just spent a week in the direct sunshine of Christian fellowship and influence and it has made a deep impression on every one of us. As a result, we have all made commitments. Commitments that Jesus wept for joy to hear. (Have you ever actually thought how much He loves us? I just can't comprehend it!)

But now we're all home or almost home and it's like clouds have come rolling across the sky and blotted out that sunshine we have been bathing in all during camp. Now it's hard to wake up early and do devotions. (Especially without that lovely trumpet to wake us!) it's hard to speak kindly as Christ would to our Mums and Dads and brothers and sisters. It's hard to remember to pray all throughout the day and it's hard to keep our commitments. But it doesn't need to be. Just like it's possible to be happy on cloudy days, Jesus can get you through these tough times. Pray to Him! Praise Him! Ask for open hands, a thirsty soul, eager ears, a song in the dark, strength of steel, blind dedication and a broken heart. And then: have faith!!!!

Ezekiel 36:26-28 :"A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgements and do them. And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God."

God has said He'll give you a new heart. So as for it! And then believe that He will.
