Book of Wisdom:Proverbs 10:6-10

Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.
The wise in heart will receive commands: but a prating fool will fall.
He who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will become known.
He who winks with the eye causes trouble, but a prating fool will fall.

[to prate - to talk foolishly]

"The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot." Verse seven reminds me of a quote that I saw recently: Your life is made of two dates and a dash. Make the most of the dash. In a society filled with YOLO (you only live once) and 'if it feels good, do it', it can take a disaster to open our eyes to the fragileness of life.
One of my dearest friends has recently experienced death among her peers for the first tim. An awful event like this tends to shake young people to the core. "Why him and not me?" is often repeated in sorrowful wonder.
Life is fragile and can be dashed to pieces at any moment. Making each moment in time count is then essential to living a fulfilling and happy life. No one remembers those who spend their 29,200 days living only for themselves and trust me, this outlook on life satisfies no-one. So get up, get out and live! Not for yourself: live for God and live for others. Make your tiny dash an eternal monument to the power of a selfless life.
